The Sub-Registrar office at Red Hills, Nampally in Hyderabad was forced to halt all operations today, on October 18, after a sudden power cut left the facility inoperable. The outage was caused by a dispute between the building’s owner, Imtyaz Khureshi, and the office over unpaid electricity bills.
Khureshi, frustrated by the accumulation of arrears, cut off the electricity, effectively shutting down registration services. Sub-Registrar Srinivas expressed his frustration, stating that the office was completely unprepared for the disruption. “Our staff has been doing their best to maintain services, but without electricity, everything is at a standstill,” he said.
The power cut has left visitors stranded, with many who arrived for property registrations voicing their anger over the lack of resolution between the office and Khureshi. Several citizens have demanded government intervention, emphasising the need for uninterrupted essential services.
Officials are reportedly working on a temporary solution to restore power and resume operations, but no clear timeline has been provided. The stand-off has sparked public outrage, and citizens are urging authorities to address the situation immediately.
