Pizzacraft PC0313 Rectangular Steel Baking Plate, 22" x 14"PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Pizzacraft Rectangular Steel Baking Plate is used in the kitchen to get a crispy crust every time. It is an alternative to the baking stone, and it can also be used at the same time as a baking stone. Bake perfect pizza, bread, pastries, and other food at home with the Pizzacraft baking steel.
Steel Vs. Stone
Steels are great for pizza, bread, pastries, or any other baked goods. It eliminates hot spots while cooking, and produces uniformly browned crust. The steel baking plate is optimal because metal conducts heat better than stone and it stores more heat than stone - both key characteristics in creating a pizza that cooks up light and crisp.
Generously-Sized
This generously sized 22 x14-inch rectangular baking plate is made of durable alloy steel that is easy to clean and will not stain like a baking stone. The baking steel comes pre-seasoned with oil. Make sure to keep the steel oiled to prevent rusting. Avoid washing with soap and water.
Consistent Results
In a 500-degree-F oven, the baking plate will stabilize at around 450-degree- F due to the steel's radiative properties. It gives constant heat even as it absorbs it. That means it stabilizes at a temperature that's slightly cooler than the air around it, which reduces the chance of burning your crust.
Two Way Cooking
Two suggested methods for cooking with the steel baking plate are with steel plate and stone and the plate and broiler. While cooking with the pizza stone place the steel baking plate with pizza on it on the bottom oven rack while positioning a pizza stone on the top rack a few inches above to achieve a perfectly crisp crust. Radiant heat from the stone will help to brown the top crust and cook the toppings like the elevated ambient heat of a pizza oven. while cooking with the broiler, place pizza steel on a rack positioned directly below the broiler of your oven. The pizza steel will achieve a perfectly crisp crust, while direct heat from the broiler will brown the top crust and cook the toppings.
How to Use?
Preheat the Baking plate in the oven for 45 minutes to one hour. Place the uncooked pizza in the middle of the Baking plate and proceed to cook the pizza according to the instructions of the recipe. For best results, it is recommended that you pre-heat your oven and steel at 500-550-degree-F, then cook pizza for about eight minutes keep an eye on the food to reduce the chance of a burnt crust.
